We unlock it on our own bench the same day, with no extra time, and the £100 is already included in the prices shown. On its own, if we’re not tuning the car, the unlock is £249. BMW M5 remapping questions

What gains can I expect from Stage 1 on a BMW M5?

Every BMW M5 engine is different, which is why they are listed separately above. At the top end the F90 M5 picks up 80bhp, going 600bhp to 680bhp with torque up to 850Nm.

How much is Stage 1 tuning on a BMW M5?

A BMW M5 Stage 1 is from £1499 inc VAT; gearbox software is £385 on its own, or £125 less when booked with the engine tune. Finance is 0% over 6 months with Bumper, or choose Pay in full when you book and pay with Klarna.

Is the ECU locked on a BMW M5?

Only the later cars. From about June 2020 the factory locks the ECU, so it needs unlocking before tuning, which we handle in-house. Pop your registration in and it will tell you either way. Check if your ECU is locked ›

What happens to my warranty and insurance if I tune my BMW M5?

You will need to tell your insurer, as with any modification, and it can affect a remaining manufacturer warranty. Every map is reversible, so the BMW M5 can be put back to its factory software at any point.

Can the remap be reversed, and how long does it take?

Allow roughly two hours for Stage 1. A locked ECU is unlocked in-house on the same visit without a longer appointment. Everything is reversible: the BMW M5 can go back to its factory software on request.
