The BMW 45e pairs the brilliant B58 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine with BMW's eDrive electric motor — silent EV running around town, effortless six-cylinder muscle everywhere else. It's one of the cleverest powertrains BMW makes, and one with serious untapped potential.

In factory form BMW quote a combined output of around 394bhp and 600Nm across the 545e, 745e and X5 45e. As with every BMW platform, the factory calibration is deliberately conservative — leaving substantial headroom on the combustion side of the powertrain.

With our Stage 1 custom dyno ECU tuning, we achieve combined outputs of 500 to 520bhp and 800 to 830Nm. Throttle response sharpens, the mid-range swells and the way the petrol and electric sides hand over becomes even smoother — all without sacrificing the 45e's refinement or its EV running.

Our calibrations are torque-managed, gear-aware and safety led — the hybrid system's own strategies are fully respected, so power is delivered progressively and sympathetically to the drivetrain. Every calibration is developed in-house on our 4WD linked dyno and tailored to the exact vehicle in front of us. No generic files and no compromises.

The 45e uses a ZF8 automatic with BMW’s electric motor integrated into the housing — an exceptionally strong unit. Optimising the gearbox alongside the engine calibration transforms how the car delivers its combined output.

From the factory the gearbox is programmed to prioritise comfort and fuel economy. xHP software unlocks its full potential, with sharper and faster shifts that better match the increased torque output from your Stage 1 tune. The ZF8 is capable of handling up to 950Nm of torque, making it the perfect pairing for our engine calibration.

The result is a car that feels substantially more alive. Power gets to the wheels quicker, the gearbox holds gears when you want it to and the overall driving experience is transformed across all conditions.

We use the V-tech 4WD Linked Dyno, one of the most advanced rolling road systems available. Crucially it is xDrive safe, meaning BMW's all-wheel drive system is fully protected throughout the entire testing process.

How much power will a Stage 1 remap add to my BMW 45e?+
Our Stage 1 maps are custom-built on our in-house 4WD dyno and tailored to your exact BMW 45e — never a generic off-the-shelf file. Because every map is refined over multiple runs, the results are realistic, repeatable and safe.
Is remapping my BMW 45e safe and reliable?+
Yes. We tune strictly within the safe mechanical limits of your BMW 45e's engine and gearbox, monitoring temperatures, pressures and torque loads across multiple dyno pulls. We've spent 14+ years tuning these platforms, so our maps prioritise long-term reliability alongside performance.
Will a remap affect my warranty or insurance?+
A remap is an aftermarket modification, so it's the owner's responsibility to declare it to their insurer. Our maps are fully reversible — we keep your original factory file and can return the BMW 45e to completely standard whenever you need, for example before a main-dealer visit.

Completely. Your original factory software is saved before we start, so your BMW 45e can be returned to stock at any time.
Will tuning improve my BMW 45e's fuel economy?+
Many owners notice improved MPG, especially on a steady motorway cruise, because the engine makes its torque more efficiently and needs less throttle for the same progress. Driving style is the biggest factor — drive it the same and economy often improves; enjoy the extra performance and the savings will simply be smaller.
How long does it take, and do you tune on a dyno?+
Most Stage 1 tunes are completed within a few hours; allow up to a day for combined ECU and gearbox work. Every BMW 45e is mapped on our in-house 4WD dyno in Warrington — never on the road — so the result is measured and consistent. You're welcome to relax in our customer waiting area while we work.
