BMW Tuning
BMW is not a sideline for us. The N57 straight-six diesel is our speciality, we tune B58s, B47s and B48s weekly, we pair engine maps with xHP software for the ZF8 gearbox, and we bench-unlock the encrypted post-June-2020 G-series ECUs most remappers have to turn away. Everything is written and proven on our own 4WD-linked dyno.
Why A BMW Specialist
BMW’s modern platforms are not generic. The N57 and B57 straight-six diesels, the B58 petrol six and the B47/B48 fours each behave differently under load, and the ZF8 automatic behind them has its own torque limiters that will quietly undo an engine map if they are left alone. Tuning a BMW properly means knowing all of that, not buying a file by engine code.
Since June 2020, BMW has also encrypted the ECUs on G-series cars. Most local remappers cannot read or write them at all, and those who can usually post your ECU away to a third party for days. We bench-unlock MG1 and MD1 units in-house, on the same visit — see is my BMW locked? to check yours.
And because our dyno drives all four wheels, xDrive cars are measured properly. A single-roller rig cannot load an xDrive BMW safely or read it accurately.
What We Do
Every job is read, mapped and proven on our in-house 4WD dyno.
No hardware changes. More power, more torque, custom written and dyno proven for your exact BMW.

Learn moreZF8 torque limiters lifted, faster and firmer shifts. Booked with an engine map it saves you £125.
Learn moreLocked MG1 and MD1 ECUs bench-unlocked in-house, same visit, no posting your ECU away.
Learn moreDiesel emissions faults, warning lights and limp modes diagnosed and dealt with properly.

Locked From The Factory
If your BMW was built after June 2020, its ECU is almost certainly encrypted. That covers most G20, G30, G05 and G01 cars and it is the reason a lot of owners are told their car "can’t be tuned". It can — the ECU has to be removed and unlocked on a bench first.
We do that here, on our own bench, during the same appointment. There is no posting your ECU to a third party and waiting days to get the car back on the road. The job is booked as a 4 hour slot rather than the usual 3 to 4, and the unlock is a one-off — future maps do not need it again.

Where We Are
The workshop and dyno are at Unit 20 Trinity Court, Birchwood, Warrington WA3 6QT — 2 minutes from J11 of the M62 and 5 from J21A of the M6, with parking outside. Manchester, Liverpool, Bolton, Stockport and Chester are all a 25 to 35 minute drive, and customers travel from much further for the 4WD dyno.

FAQs
A custom Stage 1 dyno tune is £449 including VAT for most BMWs. B58 and M models are priced higher because the software and the work cost more. xHP gearbox software starts at £325, and booking the engine map and gearbox together saves £125.
Yes. BMWs built after June 2020 have encrypted MG1 and MD1 ECUs. We bench-unlock them in-house during the same appointment rather than posting your ECU away, and the job is booked as a 4 hour slot. The unlock is one-off — later maps do not need repeating.
Around 385 to 390 bhp on a custom dyno-written Stage 1. The N57 is our speciality engine and that figure is measured on our own 4WD rolling road, not estimated.
Up to 420 bhp on Stage 1 depending on the exact car and its state of tune. The B58 sits in the M140i, M240i, 340i, 440i and 540i among others — our B58 page lists the whole line-up with figures.
Not strictly, but on a ZF8 automatic it is the difference between the gearbox allowing the new torque figure and quietly limiting it. xHP lifts the torque limiters and sharpens the shifts. Booked with an engine map the pair is £125 cheaper.
Yes, and properly. Our dyno is 4WD-linked with mechanical axle synchronisation, which is what an xDrive car needs to be loaded safely and measured accurately. A single-roller rig cannot do it.
Yes. We keep your original file so the car can be returned to standard at any point. You do need to declare the remap to your insurer.
Around 3 to 4 hours for a standard Stage 1, or a 4 hour slot if the ECU needs unlocking first. It is a same-day job and you are welcome to wait.
