BMW Stage 1 Remap
A BMW Stage 1 remap on standard hardware, written for your exact engine on our in-house 4WD dyno, not a generic file off a shelf. Typical gains are 20–35% more power and up to 40% more torque, fully reversible, with before and after printouts in your hand before you leave.
What Stage 1 Actually Is
Stage 1 is a remap of your BMW’s standard engine, nothing bolted on, nothing removed. We read the ECU, write a calibration for your exact engine, fuel, gearbox and condition, and prove it on the rolling road. Boost, fuelling, timing and torque limiters are all reworked together and kept inside the safe operating limits of the hardware that is already on the car.
That is the difference between a custom Stage 1 and a generic one. A file bought off a shelf has never seen your car. Ours is written live with the BMW strapped to a V-Tech VT-4 4WD linked dyno, so xDrive cars load all four wheels and the figures you are quoted are the figures you actually get. Stage 2 is the step beyond, and needs hardware.

Locked BMWs
BMWs built from around June 2020 have encrypted MG1 and MD1 ECUs that most remappers simply cannot write to. We bench-unlock them in-house on our own bench, same visit, so a locked G20, G30 or G05 gets its Stage 1 remap the same day rather than having its ECU posted off to a third party. Stage 1 FAQs
It depends entirely on the engine. A 20d typically goes to around 230bhp, a 30d to about 330bhp, a 35d up to roughly 390bhp and a B58 petrol to around 420bhp. As a rule of thumb expect 20–35% more power and up to 40% more torque, with the biggest real-world gain being mid-range torque rather than peak figures. Check your exact car for its own numbers.
Yes, when it is written properly. Stage 1 works within the safe limits of your standard hardware, we never push beyond what the turbo, clutch and internals can reliably take. Every map is developed live on our dyno while we watch boost, fuelling and temperatures, which is exactly what a generic off-the-shelf file cannot do.
Completely. We keep your original file, so the car can be returned to standard whenever you want, before a dealer visit or when you sell it.
No. Stage 1 is software only on an otherwise standard car, which is the whole point of it. Stage 2 is the next step up and does need hardware such as a downpipe or intercooler.
Allow around two to three hours for a Stage 1 on the dyno, and it is a same-day job. Adding xHP gearbox software or an in-house ECU unlock is done in the same visit.
