Many of the latest ECUs are locked from the factory, the manufacturer protects them so they can't be read or written through the OBD port or with standard tools. Until the ECU is unlocked, no tuning, DTC work or software solution can be applied. On BMWs, this applies to ECUs with a build date after June 2020, in practice that is the G-series cars: the G20/G21 3-Series, G30/G31 5-Series, G22/G23 4-Series, G42 2-Series, G32 6-Series GT, G01 X3, G02 X4, G05 X5, G06 X6, G07 X7 and the M cars (G80 M3, G82 M4, G87 M2). Late F-chassis cars built after that date are affected too.
We now unlock these ECUs in-house on the bench. The unit is removed, opened and unlocked on the bench. Only once it’s unlocked can its data be read and your original file saved, ready to be read, modified and written. It's the crucial groundwork that makes everything else possible on these platforms.
We're proud to be able to offer this on the Bosch MDG1 range featuring Aurix TC298 and TC299 microprocessors, and the supported list is growing all the time.
