& Conditions

1Scope of Work

All services provided by DC Remapping LTD involve aftermarket software calibration tailored to the individual vehicle at the time of tuning. Results may vary depending on vehicle condition, software version, environmental conditions, and supporting hardware.

2Insurance Declaration

It is the sole responsibility of the customer to notify their motor insurance provider of any vehicle modifications carried out or requested, including ECU or gearbox software changes.

DC Remapping LTD accepts no liability for insurance invalidation, refusal of cover, increased premiums, or rejected claims.

3Emissions-Related Software (Off-Road & Export Use Only)

This section applies to DPF/FAP, EGR, AdBlue (SCR/DEF), GPF/OPF, swirl flap and DTC / fault-code removal, and to any other software that removes, disables, bypasses or masks emissions-control equipment or its monitoring.

This software is supplied strictly for off-road, motorsport, competition or export use only. It is never supplied for use on a vehicle driven on UK public roads.

By requesting or booking any of this work, you confirm and accept that:

• The vehicle will not be used on a UK public road after the work is carried out.
• Removing or rendering inoperative emissions-control equipment on a road-going vehicle is an offence under the Road Vehicles (Construction & Use) Regulations 1986, and the vehicle will not pass an MOT emissions or visual inspection.
• Any fine, penalty, prosecution, MOT failure, enforcement action or vehicle prohibition arising from road use is entirely your responsibility.
• You have decided to have this work carried out on your own instruction and judgement. DC Remapping LTD has not advised or encouraged you to use the vehicle on the road.
• It is your responsibility to notify your insurer. DC Remapping LTD accepts no liability for invalidated cover, refused cover, increased premiums or rejected claims.
• The work may affect any remaining manufacturer or extended warranty on the vehicle.
• If you sell or transfer the vehicle, it is your responsibility to disclose these modifications to the buyer.
• You indemnify DC Remapping LTD, its directors and its employees against any claim, fine, penalty, cost, liability or loss arising from the vehicle being used on a public road after this work.

We reserve the right to decline or stop this work at any time, including on arrival, if we believe the vehicle is intended for road use. Deposit terms in section 19 continue to apply.

Returning the vehicle to its original emissions software is a separate chargeable service. No refund is given on the original work.

4No Guarantee of Subjective Outcome

While we aim to achieve the best possible performance and drivability, no guarantee is given regarding subjective impressions such as “feel”, responsiveness, smoothness, or perceived performance increase.

5Dashboard Displays & Vehicle Indicators

Vehicle dashboard power, torque, or performance displays are derived estimates and may not reflect true engine output following custom ECU or gearbox calibration. These displays do not dynamically rescale and must not be relied upon as evidence of performance.

6Calibration Methodology

DC Remapping LTD uses proven, professional tuning methods, which may include managing torque control strategies within the ECU prior to gearbox software installation.

The order of ECU and gearbox calibration does not invalidate the service and does not constitute a defect.

7xHP Gearbox Software

Where xHP gearbox software is installed:

• Installation may be carried out using DC Remapping LTD authorised dealer account
• Customer devices or apps may not display the gearbox map as active, despite successful installation
• Dealer-installed xHP software remains fully functional regardless of app display status
• Removal or alteration of xHP software requires the vehicle to be physically present

DC Remapping LTD accepts no liability for third-party app behaviour or display limitations.

After any gearbox tuning (including xHP, DSG and other gearbox software), you must drive the first 50 miles steadily, as the gearbox adaptations are in a learning phase.

8Software Updates, Recalls & Data Loss

Manufacturer updates, recalls, dealer diagnostics, or ECU/TCU security updates may overwrite aftermarket software.

If software is removed or overwritten for any reason, reinstallation will be classed as a new service at full cost.

9Health Checks, Diagnostics & Time Estimates

Quoted time windows are estimates only. Actual time spent may vary depending on vehicle condition, diagnostics required, or processes such as DPF regeneration.

Diagnostics performed are limited to the scope required for the requested service and do not constitute a full mechanical inspection. DC Remapping LTD is not responsible for identifying unrelated, hidden, or latent faults.

Shorter or longer appointment times do not indicate incomplete work.

10Road Testing & Mileage

The customer acknowledges and agrees that vehicle mileage may increase as a result of dyno testing, calibration, data logging, and authorised road testing. Any mileage increase does not constitute misuse of the vehicle.

11Travel & Location

Customers choose to travel to DC Remapping LTD at their own discretion. Distance travelled does not form part of any refund, remedy, repeat performance, or compensation obligation.

12Rectification, Repeat Performance & Refunds

If a concern is raised following service:

• DC Remapping LTD must be given the opportunity to inspect the vehicle
• Any repeat performance or rectification requires the vehicle to be returned to our premises

Refunds (partial or full) will only be considered once all installed software is removed and the vehicle is returned to original stock. No refunds will be issued while aftermarket software remains installed.

13No Third-Party Intervention

DC Remapping LTD does not permit third-party workshops to alter, remove, or verify our software on our behalf. Doing so may void any entitlement to refund, repeat performance, or further support.

14Consumer Rights

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights. However, where a remedy is offered, it will be provided in a reasonable manner consistent with the nature of the service, including the requirement for the vehicle to be returned for inspection or reversal of work.

15Acceptance of Terms

By booking an appointment and/or proceeding with work, the customer confirms they have read, understood, and accepted these Booking Terms & Conditions in full, including the non-refundable deposit policy.

16Governing Law

These terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with UK law.

17Vehicle Condition, Warranty & Responsibility

The customer is responsible for all past and future vehicle maintenance. While diagnostics and checks are carried out where appropriate, not all faults can be identified.

Internal engine, turbocharger, clutch, and gearbox faults are unknown to us and are therefore assumed to be in good working order unless stated otherwise.

It is the customer’s responsibility to present a vehicle in suitable condition. If faults are discovered during assessment, DC Remapping LTD reserves the right to stop work and charge for time spent. The customer is responsible for the cost of any component that fails during or after the tuning process.

18Presenting Your Vehicle for Dyno Tuning

Vehicles must arrive in a roadworthy condition unless otherwise agreed. Requirements include:

• Tyres with a minimum of 1.6mm tread depth, correct pressures, and no damage
• No fluid leaks
• Secure bodywork and undertrays
• Vehicles must not be excessively lowered from factory specification without prior approval
• Hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles: please ensure the high-voltage battery is charged above 50% when the vehicle arrives. A lower charge can reduce the vehicle’s performance and affect the dyno results

Any tyre failure or damage during dyno tuning is the responsibility of the vehicle owner.

19Booking Deposits

Deposits are taken to secure your booking and cover preparation and reserved dyno time. You can reschedule free of charge with at least 48 hours’ notice, your deposit simply transfers to the new date. If you pay in full, £50 of your payment is your deposit and this section applies to it. If you booked online or by phone, your 14-day right to cancel is explained in section 31. Deposits are non-refundable and will be forfeited if any of the following occur:

• Failure to attend the booking
• Arrival more than 15 minutes late
• Cancelling, or moving the booking with less than 48 hours’ notice
• Presenting a vehicle unfit for tuning or dyno testing
• Arriving with undisclosed modifications (see section 33)

Missed appointments: where a previous appointment was not attended, we may require any later booking to be paid in full at the time of booking, and the deposit option will not be offered for that booking. Rescheduling with at least 48 hours’ notice remains free of charge.

20Disclosure of Previous Tuning

You must accurately declare whether your vehicle has previously been tuned, or had any other software changes (including to the immobiliser), from factory settings. If unsure, you must declare “Not Sure”. If your vehicle has already been tuned and you are seeking a custom calibration, you must contact us before booking.

Why we need to know: Most cars are now read through the diagnostic (OBD) port. Our equipment matches your ECU’s software and hardware numbers to the manufacturer’s standard file for your vehicle, rather than copying what is currently on the car. This means the car is put back to factory software, and any previous tuning or software changes, including changes to the immobiliser, will be removed. That is why you must tell us about them before your appointment: if you don’t, it can mean extra time and additional cost.

21On Arrival, Undisclosed Tuning

If the vehicle arrives and is found to have been previously tuned without disclosure:

• DC Remapping LTD reserves the right to cancel or amend the service
• If you choose not to proceed after assessment or initial dyno runs, a non-refundable £150 fee will apply

This applies even if you were unsure or believed the vehicle to be standard.

22Proceeding With Retuning

If prior tuning is identified and improvements can be made:

• Work will proceed only with your agreement
• The originally quoted tuning rate will apply
• This includes all dyno time, diagnostics, calibration, and final mapping

23ECU Unlocking (Bench Service)

Some vehicles, typically BMW and Audi models registered from mid-2020 onwards, have a factory-locked ECU that must be unlocked before it can be tuned. Where this applies you choose one of two routes at the time of booking, and the cost is added to the price shown:

• Magic unlock, in-house, same day. Carried out in-house on our own bench while your car is with us. On a BMW or Alpina this is £100 inc VAT added to a tuning booking, or £249 as an unlock on its own, and your appointment stays its normal length — these ECUs are now quick to open on the bench. On an Audi, VW, SEAT, Skoda, Cupra, Porsche or Bentley it is £449 inc VAT, and that is done inside your normal appointment too. Either way you drive away the same day. This is a glitch-based method. Following a Magic unlock, every BMW and Alpina ECU we unlock — Bosch MD1CP032, MD1CP002, MD1CS001, MG1CS003, MG1CS024, MG1CS049 and MG1CS201 — is left open to any standard OBD tool. On the other makes the unit can only be read and written with the Flex tool afterwards; other OBD tools will not work with it, and the Autotuner route is the one that leaves those ECUs fully open. We confirm which applies to your ECU before you book.
• Autotuner unlock, £399 inc VAT, 3–4 working days. Offered on Audi, VW, SEAT, Skoda, Cupra, Porsche and Bentley, and on the BMW M2, M3 and M4 registered from June 2026, whose new Euro 7 ECU can only be unlocked this way — on every other BMW or Alpina the bench unlock is quicker and cheaper, so we do not send those away. The ECU is removed and sent away to be unlocked. Your vehicle remains with us for the duration and the tuning is carried out once the ECU is returned and refitted. Turnaround is an estimate, not a guarantee, and can be affected by postage and third-party workload. Once unlocked by this route the ECU is accessible to any standard OBD tool for future work, not just ours.

Your £50 deposit is unchanged either way. The appointment you book on the Autotuner route is the drop-off; we confirm the tuning date once the ECU is back.

Unlocking is offered both as part of a tuning or software booking and on its own. Standalone unlocking is priced separately and is only offered where we can leave the ECU usable with your chosen tuner, we confirm that for your exact ECU before you book.

By booking a service that includes ECU unlocking, you acknowledge and accept the following:

• Our unlocking success rate is 100% to date — every ECU we have unlocked has come through the process. Unlocking remains delicate work that carries an inherent risk, however, and we cannot guarantee that no ECU will ever fail.
• If an ECU fails during unlocking, DC Remapping LTD will supply and code a replacement unit of equivalent specification. We may source that unit new, reconditioned or used at our discretion, provided it restores the vehicle to full working order. Our liability is limited to that unit and its coding.
• Where a vehicle’s replacement ECU cost is materially higher than normal, we will tell you before you book and confirm the position in writing.
• That cover is limited to the ECU and its coding only. We do not cover hire or courtesy vehicles, recovery, travel, loss of earnings, missed appointments, consequential losses or any other associated costs.
• Replacement may take additional time depending on parts availability, and your vehicle may need to remain with us or be returned at a later date.
• You accept this risk voluntarily when you place the booking.

24Checking Whether Your ECU Is Locked

Whether an ECU is locked cannot always be known until we connect to the car. Two cars of the same model and year can differ: the build date (which can be months before the registration date), software updates carried out by a dealer, and the exact ECU fitted all play a part. When you book, we estimate whether your car needs unlocking from its make, model, engine and registration date, together with anything you tell us. That estimate is our best guess, not a confirmation.

• We check on arrival, before any work starts. That includes cars where you have told us no unlock is needed, for example an earlier build or an ECU that has already been unlocked.
• If your ECU is locked and your booking did not include unlocking, we will tell you before doing anything. You can add the unlock at the price in section 23, on the same day if our diary allows, or move your booking to a date with time for it and your deposit transfers with you free of charge. We never unlock an ECU, or charge for unlocking, without your agreement.
• If you decide not to go ahead, choosing neither to add the unlock nor to move your booking, your £50 deposit is retained to cover the reserved appointment and the checks carried out. If you paid in full, everything above the deposit is refunded to your original payment method.
• If your booking included unlocking and your ECU turns out not to be locked, we do not carry out the unlock and you are not charged for it. If you paid in full, the unlock fee is refunded to your original payment method.
• ECU locking is outside our control. ECUs are locked by the vehicle manufacturer, and a dealer software update can lock one that was previously open. If your ECU is found to be locked, unlocking is charged at the price in section 23, including where you told us no unlock was needed.
• Associated costs. If work cannot go ahead on the day because your ECU is locked, DC Remapping LTD does not cover travel, time off work, hire or courtesy vehicles, or any other associated costs.
• We keep a record of what we find. For each car we connect to, we note the make, model, engine, registration number and date, the ECU fitted and whether it was locked. We use this only to improve the lock check on our booking page. It is not used for marketing and is not shared.

25Your Vehicle Records & Selling Your Car

We keep a record of the work we carry out on your vehicle, such as the tuning stage, any gearbox or software changes and your dyno printouts. Because these records are linked to you as our customer, they are your personal data under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

• We only discuss your vehicle’s records with you. If you sell the vehicle, we will not share any details of the work we carried out with the new owner, a dealer or anyone else, and we will not confirm whether we have worked on it at all, unless you give us permission.
• To give permission, email sales@dcremappinguk.com from the email address we hold for your booking. Include the vehicle registration and the name of the person we may share the details with.
• Having the vehicle or its V5C is not enough. Without that email from you, we cannot share records, dyno printouts or files with anyone else.
• If you no longer use that email address, call us on 01925 819002 and we will explain how else we can confirm it is you.

26Gift Cards

These terms apply to DC Remapping gift cards, whether bought, received as a gift or issued as a promotional card.

• Validity. A purchased gift card is valid for 12 months from the date it is issued. Promotional cards, such as referral cards, are valid for the period stated on the card, usually 3 months. Any balance left after the expiry date cannot be used.
• Using your card. Gift cards can be used towards any of our services, either when you book or against the balance on the day. Any amount you do not use stays on the card until it expires.
• Promotional cards cannot be used to pay the booking deposit. They are taken off the balance on the day.
• Bonus credit. Where a promotion adds bonus credit to a card, such as our Christmas bonus, the bonus is added to the card’s value when it is issued, has the same expiry date as the card and has no cash value. Promotions apply only to cards bought during the dates shown at the time.
• No cash alternative. Gift cards cannot be exchanged for cash and are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise. Where a refund is due, only the amount paid is refunded and any bonus credit is removed.
• Keep your code safe. Anyone who has the code can use the card. If you lose it, contact us and we can resend it to the email address it was sent to. We cannot replace value that has already been used.

27Photos, Video & Dyno Results

We often photograph and film vehicles in our workshop and on our dyno, and may use these photos, videos and dyno results on our website and social media. We hide registration plates and do not publish your name or contact details without your permission.

If you would prefer your vehicle not to be featured, tell us when you book or on the day. If you change your mind later, email us and we will remove any posts featuring your vehicle from our own channels.

28Vehicle Ownership & Permission

By booking, you confirm that you are the registered keeper of the vehicle, or that you have the registered keeper’s permission to have the work carried out.

If the vehicle is on finance, lease or contract hire, or is a company vehicle, it is your responsibility to obtain any consent your agreement requires before the vehicle is modified. DC Remapping LTD is not responsible for any breach of a finance, lease, hire or company agreement.

29Payment, Collection & Personal Belongings

• Payment. Any balance is due when the work is complete, before the vehicle is released. We accept card and cash.
• Bookings paid in full. If you cancel a booking you paid for in full, we refund the amount paid above the £50 deposit, and the deposit is treated as set out in section 19. Refunds are made to your original payment method; payments made through a payment or finance provider are refunded through that provider.
• Collection. Please collect your vehicle promptly once we tell you it is ready. Vehicles left with us for more than 7 days after that may incur a storage charge, which we will confirm with you before it applies.
• Personal belongings. Please remove valuables before your appointment. DC Remapping LTD is not responsible for personal items left in the vehicle.

30If We Need to Reschedule

Occasionally we may need to move an appointment, for example because of equipment failure, staff illness, severe weather, or an earlier job overrunning where finishing it safely has to come first. If this happens:

• We will contact you as soon as possible, using the phone number and email address you gave us when booking.
• You choose a new date. We will offer you the next available appointments, and your deposit or payment moves with your booking at no cost to you.
• Or a full refund. If none of the new dates suit you, we will refund your deposit or payment in full to your original payment method.

We will always give you as much notice as we can. DC Remapping LTD is not liable for travel, time off work or any other associated costs arising from a rescheduled appointment.

31Your Right to Cancel

If you book with us online or by phone, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of the day you made the booking, without giving a reason.

• How to cancel. Tell us clearly that you wish to cancel, by email to sales@dcremappinguk.com or by calling 01925 819002, before the 14 days have passed.
• Refunds. If you cancel within the 14 days and before any work has started, we refund everything you have paid, including the deposit, to your original payment method within 14 days of you telling us.
• If the work has already started. If you asked us to carry out the work within the 14 days and you cancel after it has started, you pay for the work carried out up to that point. Once the work has been completed, the right to cancel no longer applies.
• After the 14 days. Section 19 applies: your deposit secures your appointment and is non-refundable, and you can move your booking free of charge with at least 48 hours’ notice. If you paid in full, section 29 also applies.
• Not attending is not a cancellation. If you do not attend your appointment and have not told us that you are cancelling, your deposit is forfeited under section 19.

32Sound-Related Calibrations (Pops & Bangs)

DC Remapping LTD does not provide pops and bangs, burble, crackle, anti-lag or any other sound-related calibration, on any vehicle.

• Not part of any service. Stage 1, Stage 2, gearbox tuning and all other services do not include a sound-related calibration, and one cannot be added on the day.
• If you decide not to go ahead. If you choose not to proceed with your booking because a sound-related calibration is not available, the deposit terms in section 19 apply. This does not affect your right to cancel under section 31.

33Disclosure of Engine Modifications

You must declare every modification fitted to your vehicle that affects the engine or its performance, when you book or by contacting us before your appointment. This includes, for example, a downpipe or decat, an aftermarket exhaust, a DPF, EGR or AdBlue removal, an induction kit, an intercooler, a turbocharger, injectors, a fuel pump or a clutch. If you are unsure what is fitted, you must tell us.

Why we need to know: every calibration is built for the parts fitted to the vehicle, and Stage 1 is calibrated for a vehicle in standard form. Parts we have not been told about can change which service is suitable, its price and the work involved, and whether the vehicle can be tuned safely.

If the vehicle arrives with modifications that were not disclosed:

• DC Remapping LTD reserves the right to cancel or amend the service
• Where the modifications require a different service, such as Stage 2, the price of that service applies if you choose to proceed
• If you choose not to proceed, or the vehicle cannot be tuned safely with the parts fitted, your deposit is forfeited under section 19
• If you choose not to proceed after assessment or initial dyno runs, the non-refundable £150 fee in section 21 also applies.

This applies even if you were unsure what was fitted or believed the vehicle to be standard.

34Fuel Economy

All tuning carried out by DC Remapping LTD is performance tuning. We do not tune for fuel economy, we do not offer economy or eco calibrations, and we do not guarantee any change in fuel consumption.

• No fuel economy guarantee. Any fuel consumption figure, whether from us, another customer or a third party, is not a promise for your vehicle. Fuel consumption depends on driving style, vehicle condition, fuel quality, load and conditions.
• Changes in fuel consumption. A change in fuel consumption after tuning, in either direction, is not a fault with the calibration and is not grounds for a refund or a repeat calibration. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Why This Policy Exists

Undisclosed prior tuning causes wasted dyno time and technical complications that are not viable for our business. This policy ensures fair use of resources and allows us to maintain high service standards.
