BMW 530d G-Series: Stage 1 + xHP Stage 3

Another modern BMW 5 Series refined properly. This BMW 530d G-Series — the 3.0-litre B57 straight-six diesel — came in for our full engine and gearbox package: a custom Stage 1 dyno calibration paired with xHP Stage 3 gearbox software, all developed live on our 4WD linked V-Tech dyno.

The numbers

It arrived producing 266bhp and 637Nm on our baseline run. After the Stage 1 calibration and xHP Stage 3, it left making 330bhp and 754Nm — measured on the rollers, not estimated:

What the transformation feels like

That’s +64bhp and +117Nm. The objective here was strong, usable torque while keeping the refinement you expect from a 5 Series. The result is a much broader torque curve, sharper throttle response and effortless mid-range acceleration — the car feels significantly more responsive in real-world driving, without compromising comfort.

Why xHP Stage 3 matters

With xHP Stage 3 on the ZF8 automatic, the gearbox shifts faster, reacts more intelligently under load and manages the increased torque far more effectively. The whole drivetrain feels tighter, smoother and far more decisive — letting the car actually use the extra output rather than the factory software smothering it.

How it was done

All calibration work was carried out live on our V-Tech 4WD linked dyno, with a full health check before any tuning and detailed data logging throughout. The map was written for this exact car — its ECU variant, its fuel, its condition. No generic files. No shortcuts. Just precision B57 tuning done properly, with the original software backed up so it’s fully reversible.
