Another BMW diesel dialled in properly. This BMW 420d — the B47 2.0 turbo diesel — came in for our full engine and gearbox package: a custom Stage 1 dyno calibration paired with xHP Stage 3 gearbox tuning, all developed live on our 4WD linked V-Tech dyno.
It arrived producing 178bhp and 399Nm on our baseline run. After the Stage 1 calibration and xHP Stage 3, it left making 226bhp and 494Nm — measured on the rollers, not estimated:

That’s +48bhp and +95Nm, and the goal was improving real-world drivability and usable torque. The result is noticeably sharper throttle response, a much stronger mid-range and smoother, more confident acceleration — transforming how the car feels in everyday driving.
With xHP Stage 3 installed, the ZF8 automatic becomes far more responsive. Shift speeds are quicker, torque management is improved and the gearbox logic under load is more decisive — letting the drivetrain fully utilise the increased output, safely and efficiently.
All work was carried out live on our 4WD linked V-Tech dyno, with a full health check before any tuning and detailed data logging throughout. The map was written for this exact car — its ECU variant, its fuel, its condition. No generic files. No shortcuts. Just precision B47 tuning done properly, with the original software backed up so it’s fully reversible.
