BMW 330e Touring G21: ECU Unlock, Stage 1 Custom + Gearbox, 413bhp & 711Nm

This 2022 BMW 330e Touring (G21) plug-in hybrid came in for an ECU unlock, our Stage 1 custom dyno tune and gearbox software. It pairs BMW’s B48 2.0 turbo petrol with an electric motor.

ECU unlocked in-house first

Like most newer BMWs, its ECU left the factory locked, so we unlocked it in-house before carrying on with baseline runs and live data.

The numbers

On the baseline run it made 293.2bhp and 432Nm. With our calibration and the gearbox software it made 413.9bhp and 711Nm, with 363.5bhp at the wheels. That is 120.7bhp and 279Nm more:

More power than a factory M340i

Tuned, this 330e holds over 650Nm from around 2,500 to 3,850rpm and over 600Nm all the way to 4,600rpm, with 200Nm or more extra torque from around 2,400 to 4,050rpm and 100bhp or more extra power from around 2,650rpm right to the top of the stock run. For reference, BMW’s own M340i Touring (G21 LCI) is rated at 374PS (about 369bhp) and 500Nm.

Hybrid owners

Please arrive with the battery charged above 50%. A lower charge can reduce the vehicle’s performance and affect the dyno results.

How it was done

Diagnostics and a health check first, then the ECU unlock, then baseline runs on our 4WD linked dyno with live data logging. The engine calibration was built from there with repeated runs, the gearbox software was set up to match, and the final pulls verified the result. No generic files: a calibration written for this car, proven on our dyno.
