BMW 530e G30: ECU Unlock, Stage 1 Custom + TCU, 401bhp & 714Nm

This 2022 BMW 530e (G30) plug-in hybrid came in for an ECU unlock, our Stage 1 custom dyno tune and a TCU gearbox calibration. It pairs BMW’s B48 2.0 turbo petrol with an electric motor.

ECU unlocked in-house first

Like most newer BMWs, its ECU left the factory locked, so we unlocked it in-house before carrying on with baseline runs and live data.

The numbers

On the baseline run it made 295.8bhp and 439Nm. With our calibration and the TCU gearbox calibration it made 401.9bhp and 714Nm, with 356.9bhp at the wheels. That is 106.1bhp and 275Nm more:

More power than a factory 540i

Tuned, this 530e holds over 650Nm from around 2,200 to 3,650rpm and over 600Nm all the way to 4,300rpm, with 200Nm or more extra torque from around 2,100 to 3,850rpm and 100bhp or more extra power from around 2,500rpm right to the top of the stock run. For reference, BMW’s own 540i (G30 LCI) is rated at 340PS (about 333bhp) and 450Nm.

Hybrid owners

Please arrive with the battery charged above 50%. A lower charge can reduce the vehicle’s performance and affect the dyno results.

How it was done

Diagnostics and a health check first, then the ECU unlock, then baseline runs on our 4WD linked dyno with live data logging. The engine calibration was built from there with repeated runs, the gearbox was calibrated to match, and the final pulls verified the result. No generic files: a calibration written for this car, proven on our dyno.
