This BMW X3 xDrive30d (F25) came in for our Stage 1 custom dyno tune for the N57 3.0 diesel, with an xHP Stage 3 calibration for its ZF 8-speed automatic, both developed on the same visit.

On the baseline run it made 257.6bhp and 569Nm. With our calibration and xHP Stage 3 it made 325.2bhp and 679Nm, with 283.1bhp at the wheels. That is 67.6bhp and 110Nm more:
| Measurement | Stock | DC Stage 1 Custom & xHP ST3 |
|---|---|---|
| Engine power | 257.6 hp @ 3,881rpm | 325.2 hp @ 4,022rpm |
| Engine torque | 569 Nm @ 2,110rpm | 679 Nm @ 2,300rpm |
| Wheel power | 213.8 hp @ 3,449rpm | 283.1 hp @ 3,995rpm |

BMW’s own X3 M40d leaves the factory with 326hp and 688Nm. Tuned, this 30d made 325.2bhp and 679Nm on our rollers: the same power as the M Performance car, and within 10Nm of its torque, from the ordinary six-cylinder diesel.

The peak is only part of it. Tuned, this X3 holds over 600Nm from around 1,800 to 3,650rpm and over 650Nm from around 1,950 to 3,050rpm, with 80Nm or more extra torque from around 1,950rpm. Power stays above 300bhp from around 3,300 to 4,650rpm, with 50bhp or more over standard from around 3,350rpm to the top of the run. In normal driving that is the part you feel: it pulls earlier, holds on for longer and needs fewer downshifts.
xHP Stage 3 was flashed into the ZF 8-speed on the same visit, so the gearbox is set up for the torque the engine now makes rather than the torque BMW built it around. Shifts are quicker and firmer, the torque limiters are raised to suit the new map, and the engine and gearbox are calibrated as one package instead of two separate jobs.

Diagnostics and a health check first, then baseline runs on our 4WD linked dyno with live data logging. The engine calibration was built from there with repeated runs, the gearbox was flashed with xHP Stage 3, and the final pulls verified the result. No generic files: a calibration written for this car, proven on our dyno.
