Another luxury BMW optimised properly. This BMW 740Le plug-in hybrid came in for our full engine and gearbox calibration package — a Stage 1 custom dyno tune with gearbox (TCU) software optimisation — and its owner made a 1.5-hour round trip for it, something we genuinely appreciate and never take for granted.

It arrived producing 337bhp and 502Nm combined on the baseline run. After the Stage 1 calibration and gearbox optimisation, it left delivering a strong 398bhp and 644Nm — measured, not estimated:
| Measurement | Stock | DC Stage 1 + TCU |
|---|---|---|
| Engine power | 337.8 hp @ 5,360rpm | 398.8 hp @ 6,063rpm |
| Engine torque | 502 Nm @ 1,940rpm | 644 Nm @ 2,580rpm |
| Wheel power | 277.2 hp | 329.8 hp |

The goal with this setup was improving overall performance while maintaining the refinement expected from a 7 Series. The result: sharper throttle response, a much stronger mid-range and smoother, more effortless acceleration — while keeping every bit of the comfort and drivability these cars are known for. It's still a limousine; it just moves like something far smaller.
With the gearbox software optimisation, gear changes are more responsive and torque delivery is managed more effectively — letting the drivetrain make full use of the extra 142Nm rather than the factory software holding it back.

All work was carried out live on our V-Tech 4WD linked dyno, with a full health check before tuning and detailed data logging throughout — the hybrid system's own strategies fully respected. No generic files. No shortcuts. Original software backed up, fully reversible.

From the 740Le to the 545e, 745e and X5 45e, BMW's plug-in hybrids respond brilliantly to a proper custom calibration — see our BMW 45e hybrid tuning page, check your car's gains, or get a free quote.
