This BMW 530d xDrive (G30) came in for our Stage 1 custom dyno tune for its B57 3.0 diesel. It was already running xHP Stage 3 gearbox software, so this visit was all about the engine.

Its ECU had to be unlocked before it could be tuned, so we unlocked it in-house, then carried straight on with baseline runs and live data.
On the baseline run it made 279.1bhp and 643Nm. With our calibration it made 329.6bhp and 745Nm, with 285.3bhp at the wheels. That is 50.5bhp and 102Nm more:
| Measurement | Stock | DC Stage 1 Custom |
|---|---|---|
| Engine power | 279.1 hp @ 3,943rpm | 329.6 hp @ 3,872rpm |
| Engine torque | 643 Nm @ 2,159rpm | 745 Nm @ 2,405rpm |
| Wheel power | 230.8 hp @ 3,301rpm | 285.3 hp @ 3,666rpm |

Tuned, this 530d holds over 700Nm from around 2,000 to 2,900rpm and over 650Nm all the way to 3,450rpm, with 80Nm or more extra torque from around 2,050 to 4,450rpm, and it stays above 300bhp from around 3,050 to 4,650rpm. For reference, BMW’s 540d is rated at 680Nm (700Nm after the 2020 facelift).

Diagnostics and a health check first, then the ECU unlock, then baseline runs on our 4WD linked dyno with live data logging. The calibration was built from there with repeated runs, and the final pulls verified the result. No generic files: a calibration written for this car, proven on our dyno.
