Some cars are worth a long drive — this owner made the journey down from Cumbria for the full engine and gearbox package, and the numbers say it was well worth the trip. A BMW 430d xDrive, in for our Stage 1 custom dyno calibration paired with xHP Stage 3 on the ZF8.

It arrived producing 255bhp and 577Nm on the baseline run. After the Stage 1 calibration and xHP Stage 3, it left with a commanding 328bhp and 701Nm — measured, not estimated:

The goal with this build was to unlock the N57's full potential while keeping the delivery smooth, linear and completely liveable every day. The result is a substantial gain in mid-range torque, much sharper throttle response and noticeably effortless pull through the rev range — the kind of change you feel in real-world driving, not just on paper.
With xHP Stage 3 fitted, shift speeds are crisper, torque management is tightened up and gear logic under load is far more decisive — letting the drivetrain harness the extra 124Nm safely and efficiently instead of the factory software smothering it.

Being an xDrive model, all work was carried out live on our V-Tech 4WD linked dyno — purpose-built to handle all-wheel-drive BMW platforms properly, with mechanically linked axles protecting the transfer box.
