This 2014 BMW 420d Coupé M Sport (F32) came in for our Stage 1 custom dyno tune for the N47 2.0 diesel. It’s a manual, so there’s no gearbox software involved: every bit of the gain comes from the engine calibration.

It made 184bhp and 394Nm on the baseline run and left making 232bhp and 490Nm, more torque than BMW’s six-cylinder 440i, which is rated at 450Nm:
| Measurement | Stock | DC Stage 1 Custom |
|---|---|---|
| Engine power | 184.4 hp @ 4,023rpm | 232.0 hp @ 4,115rpm |
| Engine torque | 394 Nm @ 2,440rpm | 490 Nm @ 2,396rpm |
| Wheel power | 147.2 hp | 194.2 hp |

The gain is not just at the peak. Tuned, this 420d holds over 450Nm from around 2,000 to 3,400rpm, carries more than 80Nm extra from 2,100 to 4,500rpm and stays above 200bhp from 3,000 to 4,600rpm, so it pulls harder in every gear.

Diagnostics and a health check first, then stock runs on our 4WD linked dyno with live data logging. The calibration was built from there with repeated runs, and the final pulls verified the result. No generic files, original software backed up and fully reversible.
