BMW 520d & 530d Tuning

The 5 Series diesels are made for covering big miles in comfort — and a remap makes them even better at it. The 520d and 530d are two of the most satisfying executive diesels to tune.

The gains

On a custom Stage 1 map, a 520d (2.0d) typically makes around 230bhp, and a 530d (3.0d straight-six) around 330bhp — both with substantial torque increases that transform how effortlessly they pull.

Built for torque

The appeal of a 5 Series diesel is relaxed, torquey progress — and that's exactly what a remap enhances. More low-down pull means easier overtakes, calmer motorway cruising and less gear-changing. On a steady cruise, some owners see a small economy benefit too.

Pair it with xHP

Both use the ZF8 automatic, so xHP gearbox tuning is a natural addition — firmer, faster shifts and a higher torque limit to suit the extra torque.
