Official UK V-Tech Dyno Supplier

2WD Dynos For Sale,
From £14,500

The single-axle V-Tech VT-2 is the most affordable way into a proper rolling road, and the one model in the range that is also available as a mobile unit. Start inertial, add eddy-current brakes when you need load control, and upgrade to a full 4WD-linked rig later without replacing what you bought.

Grow Into It

Buy The Rig You Can Afford, Not The One You’re Stuck With

Most workshops do not fail at dyno ownership because they bought the wrong model — they fail because they bought something they could not change. Every V-Tech 2WD dyno can grow: inertial to braked, single axle to 4WD-linked, plus motor holders, OBD adapters and other options as the work changes. The money you put into a VT-2 is not written off the day you start seeing Quattros.

The VT-2 is the inertial starting point, measuring power and torque against a known mass — exactly what you need for before-and-after runs and honest customer printouts. The VT-2/B1 adds one 1000 Nm eddy-current brake so you can hold a steady state and map at part throttle. The VT-2/B2 doubles that to 2 × 1000 Nm for maximum load control and transient testing.

The 2WD dyno is also the only model offered as a mobile unit — easy to install, simple to transport, and set up wherever the work is. All three share the 319 mm roller set, sub-0.1% accuracy, 3,000 readings per second and a 300 km/h V-max, in pit or above-ground form.

The Honest Advice

Most Shops Should Start Here

We sell the 4WD rigs and we run one ourselves, so it would be easy to point everyone at a VT-4. For a lot of workshops that is the wrong call. If your bread and butter is front and rear-wheel-drive cars, a single-axle rig does the same job for a third of the money, and the upgrade path means the day a steady stream of Quattros arrives you are not starting again.

The question worth asking is not 2WD versus 4WD, it is inertial versus braked. Power runs and customer printouts need neither brake nor 4WD. The moment you want to hold a car at a fixed rpm and part throttle to actually map it, you want at least the VT-2/B1. Adding brakes later is possible but it is cheaper to buy them up front if you know the mapping work is coming.

Whichever you land on, we handle spec and pricing, delivery, installation above-ground, in-pit or mobile, commissioning, DynaVTECH setup and training, with UK-based support, a 24-month warranty extendable to 36 months, and free software updates when serviced by V-Tech.

Buying Questions

Buying A 2WD Dyno, FAQs

How much is a 2WD rolling road?

The inertial VT-2 starts at £14,500 ex VAT, the single-brake VT-2/B1 at £23,000 and the twin-brake VT-2/B2 at £31,000. Delivery, installation, commissioning, software and training are quoted per site.

What is the difference between inertial and braked?

An inertial dyno measures what the car does accelerating against a known mass. It is accurate, simple and ideal for power runs and customer printouts. An eddy-current brake lets you hold the car at a fixed rpm and throttle opening, which is what you need for part-throttle mapping, steady-state work and transient testing. Most shops start inertial and add brakes when the mapping work justifies it.

Can a 2WD dyno be upgraded to 4WD?

Yes — every V-Tech 2WD dyno can be upgraded to a 4WD version, and inertial models can have eddy-current brakes added. That is the main reason to start here rather than stretching to a VT-4 straight away.

Is there a mobile version?

Yes, the 2WD dyno is available as a mobile unit. It is easy to install, simple to transport and quick to set up on site, which suits event work, race support and shops without a permanent bay.

Will it measure a van?

Yes — the car and van models take up to 3,000 kg per axle. For trucks and heavy vehicles you want the VT-2/Truck, which takes up to 15,000 kg per axle with up to 6600 Nm of braking torque; see the full range for that.

What space do I need?

The VT-2 rig is 1150 × 2740 mm and the braked models 1150 × 3270 mm, with a maximum track of 2230 mm. You also need run-off and working room around it. Tell us your unit dimensions and whether you want a pit and we will confirm what fits before you order.
