VW Touareg 3.0 V6 TDI: Stage 1 + TCU Calibration

A big SUV like the VW Touareg lives on torque. This 3.0 V6 TDI came in for our Stage 1 custom dyno tune paired with a TCU gearbox calibration, so the engine and the 8-speed automatic were developed together.

It made 287bhp and 590Nm on the baseline run and 331bhp and 692Nm after the calibration:

Why torque transforms a Touareg

Over 100Nm extra, arriving from low down, is what you feel in a vehicle this size. Towing, overtaking and fully loaded motorway driving all become far more effortless, and the TCU calibration lets the gearbox handle the extra torque and put it down smoothly.

How it was done

Diagnostics and a health check first, baseline runs on our 4WD linked dyno, then a calibration developed with live data logging and repeated runs before the final verification. No generic files, original software backed up.
