This 2022 VW Golf 1.5 TSI made the trip up from London for our Stage 1 custom dyno tune, with the ECU unlocked in-house on our bench the same day.

Before any tuning, the stock runs showed the car was dropping 200mbar of boost. We traced it to a damaged boost pipe retaining clip, replaced it, and only then carried on with the unlock and calibration. This is exactly why every car is diagnosed and dyno tested before we touch the software: tuning over a fault like this would only hide it.

The stock figures below were measured with the leak, so part of the gain is simply the car getting back the boost it had been losing, and the rest is the calibration developed around it:
| Measurement | Stock | DC Stage 1 Custom |
|---|---|---|
| Engine power | 134.6 hp @ 6,219rpm | 170.4 hp @ 5,537rpm |
| Engine torque | 210 Nm @ 2,491rpm | 311 Nm @ 2,854rpm |
| Wheel power | 113.2 hp | 150.2 hp |

For a 1.5 Golf, the extra 100Nm is the big difference. It pulls far harder in the mid-range, needs fewer downshifts and makes overtaking and motorway driving feel effortless.
