If you're looking for more power, you'll have seen cheap plug-in "tuning boxes" alongside proper ECU remapping. They sound similar, but they work very differently — and the results aren't the same.
A tuning box is a small module that plugs into your engine's sensors (usually the fuel rail or boost sensor) and tricks the ECU by altering the signals it reads. The ECU thinks conditions are different and adds fuel or boost. It fools the standard software rather than changing it.
A remap rewrites the ECU's actual calibration — fuelling, boost, timing and torque limits — tailored to your exact engine. Nothing is fooled; the car runs a proper, joined-up map. On a 4WD dyno we develop and verify it safely across the whole rev range.
Tuning boxes have their place for a quick, removable change, but for the best and safest results a custom remap is the clear winner. Get a free quote and we'll show you what a proper map can do.
