The Service

What Is ECU Unlocking?

Many of the latest ECUs are locked from the factory — the manufacturer protects them so they can't be read or written through the OBD port or with standard tools. Until the ECU is unlocked, no tuning, DTC work or software solution can be applied.

We now unlock these ECUs in-house on the bench. The unit is removed, opened, its original data safely read and backed up, and the ECU is unlocked — ready to be read, modified and written. It's the crucial groundwork that makes everything else possible on these platforms.

We're proud to be able to offer this on the Bosch MDG1 range featuring Aurix TC298 and TC299 microprocessors — and the supported list is growing all the time.

Bench, Not OBD
These ECUs cannot be unlocked through the diagnostic port. The unit is unlocked on the bench with professional equipment, with your original data read and stored first so the ECU can always be returned to its starting state.

The ECU is removed and opened on the bench. Your original data is read and safely backed up, then the ECU is unlocked with professional equipment.

Read, Tune & Refit
